Ovdje su nađeni tragovi života iz pretpovijesnih vremena, i to u obliku keramičkih predmeta. Ostaci su pronađeni na padinama brežuljka Gradina koji dominira iznad Trpanjskoga pristaništa. Kontinuitet života nastavlja se i u kasnoj antici kada bizantski car Justinijan u Trpnju podiže utvrdu Gradinu koja predstavlja najznačajniji spomenik kulture u Trpnju – ujedno je i izvanredan vidikovac.

Trpanj zauzima i značajno mjesto u povijesti. Za vrijeme Hrvatskoga narodnoga preporoda u Dalmaciji, zahvaljujući propisu po kojemu je hrvatski jezik postao službenim jezikom umjesto tada dominantnoga talijanskoga, stanovnici Trpnja zahtijevali su da se trgovačke knjige vode na hrvatskom jeziku. Ta je odluka izazvala bijes autonomaša koji su Trpanjce sarkastično nazivali „terribili farauni“. Taj je naziv stanovnike Trpnja učinio ponosnima. Od toga je izričaja dobio ime i hotel Faraon.
 
Uživajte u mirisima Mediterana, kristalno čistom moru i brojnim plažama u Trpnju i okolici: šljunčanim, pješčanim, betoniranim, ili stjenovitim… Plaža Pozora jedna je od ljepših šljunčanih plaža s tuševima i barom, a nalazi se ispred hotela Faraon. Ulaz u more je pristupačan, a dio plaže zaštićen je od izravnoga sunca borovima. Sve to ovu plažu čini idealnom plažom za malu djecu. 

Ako više volite uživati u noćnom životu, tu su brojni trpanjski kafići, koktel-barovi i diskoteka gdje ćete lako dočekati rane jutarnje sate. 

Here are traces of life from prehistoric times, in the form of ceramic objects. The remains were found on the slopes of the hill Gradina, which dominates above the Trpanj port.The continuity of life continues in the late antiquity, when the Byzantine emperor Justinian in Trpanj raises the fortress Gradina, which is the most important monument of culture in Trpanj – and is also a remarkable sight-seeing.

Trpanj occupies a significant place in history. During the Croatian National Revival in Dalmatia, thanks to the rule that Croatian language became an official language instead of the dominant Italian, the inhabitants of Trpanj demanded that Croatian books be kept in Croatian. This decision provoked the anger of the autonomous people who Trpanj were sarcastically called “terrible pharaohs”. That name has made Trpanj inhabitants proud. Out of this, the name Faraon was named.
 
Enjoy the scents of the Mediterranean, crystal clear sea and numerous beaches in Trpanj and its surroundings: pebbly, sandy, concrete, or rocky … Pozora Beach is one of the most beautiful pebble beaches with showers and bars, located in front of the Faraon Hotel. The entrance to the sea is accessible, and part of the beach is protected from direct sunshine. All this makes this beach an ideal beach for young children. 

If you prefer to enjoy the nightlife, there are numerous Trpanj bars, cocktail bars and discos where you can easily expect early morning hours. 

Hier zijn sporen van leven uit de prehistorie, in de vorm van keramische objecten. De overblijfselen werden gevonden op de hellingen van de heuvel Gradina, die boven de haven van Trpanj domineert. De continuïteit van het leven bleef in de late Oudheid toen de Byzantijnse keizer Justinianus in zijn geboorteland verhoogt fort Gradina, dat is het belangrijkste monument in zijn geboorteland – ook een uitstekende uitkijkpunt.

Trpanj neemt een belangrijke plaats in de geschiedenis in. Tijdens de Kroatische Nationale Revival in Dalmatië, dankzij de verordening waarmee de Kroatische taal werd de officiële taal in plaats van toen dominante Italiaanse, hebben Trpanj bewoners geëist dat de handel boeken water in het Kroatisch. Deze beslissing lokte de woede uit van het autonome volk dat Trpanj sarcastisch ‘verschrikkelijke farao’s’ heette. Die naam heeft Trpanj-inwoners trots gemaakt. Hieruit is de naam Faraon genoemd.
 
Geniet van de geuren van de Middellandse Zee, het kristalheldere water en de vele stranden in Trpanj en omgeving: grind, zand, beton of het rotsachtige strand … Voorzichtigheid is één van de mooiste stranden met douches en een bar, gelegen tegenover Hotel Faraon. De toegang tot de zee is toegankelijk en een deel van het strand is beschermd tegen direct zonlicht. Dit alles maakt dit strand een ideaal strand voor jonge kinderen. 

Als u liever geniet van het nachtleven, zijn er tal van Trpanj-bars, cocktailbars en disco’s waar u gemakkelijk de vroege ochtenduren kunt verwachten.
